Greater Oilfield Water Infrastructure Connectivity: The Case for a ‘Hydrovascular’ Network In the Permian Basin
Gabe Collins, Baker Institute, Rice University
Gabe Collins will examine the current phase of oilfield water infrastructure buildout in the Permian, in which providers build their own systems. The overall market condition is one of balkanization and significant inefficiency compared to what could be realized with a deeper degree of connection and integration between systems. This presentation will explore the potential benefits of greater oilfield water infrastructure connectivity in the Permian and will realistically assess the barriers to such integration.

The water midstream has proven to be a critical component of the boom in West Texas. A rush of private equity funding is pushing new companies to the forefront, but how are successful businesses built in the midstream? There is increased market demand for water reuse and recycling, but investors continue to back steady, reliable pipe and disposal services. How will midstream companies respond? See this panel of exciting leaders discuss trends and changes in the Permian.

Ground Water Protection Council Produced Water Report on Reuse
Michael Dunkel, Advisian
Michael Dunkel was the primary author of Module 2 of the GWPC report and part of the leadership team for the multi-year study and public report released in June, 2019. This informative presentation will include a comparison of water reuse by basin, the factors that affect various practices, the regulations impacting decision makers, the emergence of the midstream, and residuals management when treating produced water. The challenges, opportunities, and decision frameworks for reusing produced water beyond the industry will be highlighted.
